TI 82 or TI 84+?

What would be better for Pre calc or Algebra II a TI 82(15+ years old) or a shiny new TI 84+?

Well I think any would be great, because I got through both pre-calc and algebra 2 with a TI-30X IIS,t he one that everyone seems to have(but I got it free from a teacher lol). I also don’t think the age of the calculator matters but I mean if those two were offered to you for free, I’d take the TI 84! I didn’t really even need the TI 30x, I made it through algebra 2 with a cheap generic calculator I won from the arcade. As long as it can do logs, ln, exponents, stats, radian/degree mode, roots, sin/cos/tan(and inverse), add/sub/div/mult, degree/minutes/seconds, etc… regular scientific calculator stuff, it’ll be good.

TI 84 is best for Precalc and Algebra II.

Ti 84 is the only calculator you’ll ever need.

go with the TI 84+

it’s magical. [but seriously, i recommend it]

^^does that hold true in comparison to the ti-89?

Why do you even need a graphing calculator for algebra II or precalculus? You’re already fine with a scientific calculator.

^ It isn’t required but being able to do quick graphs to check answers is helpful!

^^My school requires one.

^Oh. TI-84+ then.

TI 84 is faster than the TI 89 and it feels better when all you need to do are simple functions, etc.

But once you go TI 89, you don’t go back. Perhaps you should save money and go striaght to 89. TI 89 is amazing. Despite being slower on simple stuff (adding etc) it has monstrous capabilities (factor, solve for X, and the font is better :D)

I’m not sure that our Pre calc or Calc BC teacher allows TI89s
but if they do I’ll probably get one.

^^ The Ti-84 can solve single variable polynomials as well. You just need to set it equal to zero, and you get your answers one entry at a time depending on your input estimate.

Yes.

2char

TI-84.
^^^you can use a TI-89 but not on the ACT or SAT. My friend has a TI-89 and he is allowed to use it in class. I think most high schools are like that.

^I thought the SAT was doable with a scientific calculator

Get the Ti 84, the thing is a beast. Especially if you utilize the power of programs and applications.

^Ti89 is better. ACT does not allow it though (SAT does).

Ti89 is used in BC calculus

How about the TI 1? I’m pretty sure they implemented the division function on it now. It should be everything you need and more in Calculus throughout college.

^^ The 84 can perform many of the same actions as the 89 once you download a few apps, but yeah the 89 is far superior. If the tc has the extra cash for an 89 then go for it, but if not then choose the 84.
