I've had one for nearly 2 years, but haven't really learned how to do much with it other than the basics that I've absolutely had to know. I dug around and found a cord that connects it to other TI calculators. Should a cord that connects it to the USB drive on my computer have come with it, or do you have to buy those separately? I was wanting to download some programs I'd found online.

You need to buy the TI-Graphlink Cable. It's silver, with a 1/8" male end, and a USB end. Cost me $20-a $15 rebate, so $5. Well worth it IMO.

Also, towards the end of last year, I started working on the BASIC language that is built into the TI-83+ (very similar to BASIC.)

This is a great way to learn more about programming, and impress your friends.

To be honest, Im not trying to impress anyone, just get a few programs to help me solve some problems quicker and prepare me for the AP test (thats if they dont clear your memory before the AP test, which they probably do)

"This is a great way to learn more about programming, and impress your friends."

Hmmm...seems like a good sales pitch....

...."And you can have it now for only $19.95! Free shipping and Handling. Buy it now" (said by a man who has been smoking for most of his life whose voice is very raspy)

Creating programs to assist with your everyday mundande math assignments in BASIC is awesome.

As sooners said, it also impresses others. :) (not like it matters)

They don't. I assume you're talking about an AP test like Calculus. You're allowed to use any programs you want on that test. Ditto for SAT/ACT.

What kind of programs can you put in a TI-83 to help with calc?

Well, there are thousands of programs out there, but recently, I wrote one to find the derivative of an equation..that one was very well-recieved by my friends; I think most of the senior class has it now...

you guys might wanna check out this program...http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=40017...I haven't used it personally but it looks as if the guy who made it put alot of time into it...so all I can assume is that it is pretty good...
