TI 89 Discussion (Q and A)

How do you calculate determinants of matrices?

How do you multiply matrices?

Thanks! Feel free to contribute

I might end up needing assistance as well; my TI-89 just came in the mail today.

Go to catalog, hit d, find det

to enter matrices

[6,7,8;6,7,8;6,7,8]
Brakcets are start and beginning and commas separate numbers within rows and semicolons separate rows. multiply just multiply two matrices

Entropy… where is the bracket? Or do you mean parenthesis? and where is the semicolon? Gawd… lol. Thanks though.

How do I calculate Standard Deviation using Ti 89?

Ok another big Q. How do I plot data to create an equation for linear/quadratic regression?

I tried det(1,2;3,4) but it did not work. it says missing )

Nvm got it to work: det([1,2;3,4])

Bump!!!

How do you graph a function or solve an equation with both x and y on the right side?

I plugged in X - [|X|] - 1/2. for graphing, but nothing showed up. Why?

how do you do a log without a base of 10?

change of base formula

The new OS for TI-83 and 84 has a function that you can use to do logs of any base. I would assume that that feature is available somewhere on the TI-89 because of that.
