Okay, I've had my TI-89 Titanium for awhile now, although I haven't been using it super extensively because school has not started yet. I used to have a TI-83 Plus, and now I'm somewhat regretting the change. The 83 was super user-friendly and I used to have some really convenient math programs on it that allowed me to breeze through many things.

Now is it just me or is getting to programs on the 89 a pain in the ass, and the fact that all of them are designed to use the "tabbed" F1-F5 functions just slows everything down. This whole assign values for variables, clear the values for variables crap is getting annoying. Am I doing something wrong? I don't know why so many people would support something as inefficient as the 89. I recently downloaded the SAT OS program (the reason why he calls it an "OS" confused the hell out of me for awhile) and let me just say that it's so slow that you'd get the answer quicker if you freaking did it on paper. Nothing on the 89 seems as efficient as the 83 was.

Will I get used to using programs on the 89? Will it ever be as fast and user friendly as the 83 was? (Looking for responses by people who have been in my situation and know what I'm talking about)

Remember, I'm talking about using the 89 for SAT I math where time is everything. NOT for calculus and other advanced math where the 89 really shines.

No, you are allowed to use TI -89
And they absolutely ROCK!
:DD
It's a life saver if you forgot some rules for say matrices, or graphing..all you do is check. :]
helped me get an 800 on math II.
:D
TOTALLY WORTH IT IN CALC!
And deff. not cumbersome if you know how to use it.

The TI-89 is godly.
ticalc.org has very nice programs for any particular course, including SAT
If your teacher lets you use it in a class, consider yourself to have gotten an A in that class, use notefolio to type in EVERYTHING you need (formulas, equations, examples, heck the whole textbook if you've got nothing else to do :p)
It is uber for calculus as you say, but for SAT's, if you have taken calculus then the math section is probably already really easy for you then you can have time to look up formulas and check or read whatever test prep stuff you typed in beforehand (it's almost like cheating...legally!) and check your answers.

the 89 is amazing once you gets used to it! although I must caution you on not relying on your 89 to do the math you should be doing on paper (you can always use the calc to check).

now whenever I use an 83/84 it seems "clunky", if that's a word :)
