Unfortunately, my 2.8 GPA and average SAT scores do not qualify me for a Tier II program (i.e. Syracuse, Penn State, Drexel, RPI). In that my preference is remain fairly local to Rhode Island I have narrowed my focus to three programs. Specifically; Wentworth Institute of Technology, Roger Williams University and Philadelphia University.

I am seeking your input in determining which program will best prepare me for my career in architecture. Which of the aforementioned is most recognized by employers for providing a solid education knowing full well that we are not talking about a Yale education.

First, a fantastic portfolio might make you a decent admit. Post yours online to get input from the top students on this forum. I'd recommend Applying to at least one or two reaches. I got off a waitlist in August. It does happen.

Second, a professional degree is a professional degree. Make sure your CAD, modelmaking and 3D software skills are keen and you will have no problem finding a career course.

The rest of your list is good. What about SCAD? You might get a boost there for being male ;) . No RISD? Males applying to RISD get a boost IMO.

I've heard of Wentworth, but didn't even know that Roger Williams or Philly had architecture programs. The rules here prevent me from linking to it, but I believe a Wentworth architecture student keeps a blog about their experiences on a website called Archinect.
