Time Commitment for BioMG2800 & BioMG2801

I would like to ask people who have taken BioMG2800 and BioMG2801 approximately how many hours they spent on each of those classes per week? BioMG2800 is 3 credits, so should be 9 hours, and BioMG2801 should be about 6 hours, but I have heard people say that they are much more time consuming than that and I would just like to have a rough estimate? Obviously different people will spend different amounts of hours per week, but even so, I still would like to know what your experiences were?

Also, do you think that what you learnt in BioG1500 was necessary to know before you took BioMG2801? I have somehow managed to push off doing BioG1500 for a long time now, and I would like to know whether I should take that before the genetics lab. I am planning on writing an email to the professor to ask, but I still thought it could be good to know what other people thought.
