Okay...so I am a transfer student who really wants to go to either Boston College or USC. I also applied to Mills College and Smith College and have already received acceptances from both of those schools. For Smith and Mills the reply deadline is May 1...but I won't even hear from USC or Boston College by then...what should I do? Should I enroll at Smith or Mills and wait for the other 2 decisions to come out? Or would Mills and Smith possibly extend the reply deadline? Has anyone else been in this tough situation?

Just enroll but dont schedule your classes or at least wait until the very last day to register for them..You will be stuck with bad classes but if your thinking you have a shot at USC then its probably worth it, just dont be un realistic..good luck

i'm in that situation too...I'm thinking about asking USC if I can get an early review... I doubt it but I dont know what else to do...

no don't enroll early because don't those schools require a non-refundable deposit? my advice would be to call up BC and USC and ask for an decision as soon as possible. or write them and tell them how those schools are your top choices and you don't want to make a decision w/o knowing. It cant hurt your decision--if anything, it'll help. it shows that you really want to go there.

Isn't the deposit like $100?
How does enrolling in classes change anything? You can easily drop them without a trace before Aug-Sept...

don't you have to pay tuition though to register for classes and you wont get a full refund on that. Pay the deposit though to a school and if you get into a USC or BC and lose the deposit money, so what. It's pocket change compared to the price of your education and you dont want to risk being stuck somewhere you dont want to be. That $100 deposit at least ensures you a place to go if you dont get in to one of your top choices. However, like i said in my other post, you should ask usc and bc for an early review and explain your situation. Say that they are your first choice and you dont want to commit to somewhere else before knowing about them. I wouldnt ask the other schools for an extension because thats like saying "I dont really want to go to your school but if I dont get in anywhere else can i come?" I doubt theyd want to give you an extension because they want you to go to their school so why would they make it easy for you to pick another school and have them as the backup. I dunno though... i wish they all came out at the same time. there should be a national reply date for transfers, it would make life so much easier...grr...stress is killing me...
