I think I’m going to treat myself to a new iPad this month. I don’t actually have a functioning one now.
I’ll buy at Costco so checking their selection. Don’t think I need the Pro model. If you have the Pro model and feel strongly about it you can tell me why.
I will mainly use it for internet surfing and light work stuff - email, opening/creating simple documents.
Also not interested in a mini. Surprised they still make them!
Sort of narrowed down between the basic 8th edition iPad and the 4th edition Air. Air is slightly bigger screen. Other advantages of the Air vs. basic??
Really don’t want to wait for new models to come out. My Mac Air is on it’s last legs so I want to get an iPad in the query and have it set up before a vacation late in the month.
ALSO, taking recommendations for a simple cover/case and a easy to use, not pricey keyboard. Don’t know that I’d get a keyboard right away - but yes to a case/cover.
I bought a brand new IPad 8 this winter. I previously had a first generation iPad Air. The 8 is a little heavier but the cost couldn’t be beat. I have a 128 of memory and the screen is so clear it’s amazing. I think it was under $400. I can highly recommend this.
I have a Speck case. Also bought the tempered glass screen protector.
I had a previous-gen ipad for a while, and got a new Air for work last year. You wouldn’t think .5” (or whatever the exact difference is) would make that much of a difference, but alternating between them made really made me prefer the larger screen.
I liked the bigger screen enough that I got myself an Air last Christmas! Really what drove my decision is that I’m old enough to need reading glasses, and frequently zoom in slightly on web pages. The extra bit of real-estate in the screen helps a lot. If you have younger eyes then the regular iPad would be just fine.
Got the 8th Gen 128GB iPad in December of last year to replace my old iPad. Love it. Looked at the iPad Air vs the 8th Gen and decided that I didn’t need the Air. I bought at Costco too and I believe it was just shy of 400$.
I think I got the ipad 6 a while back at Costco I love it. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with either of your options. I’ve never had an air, only a mini before. I think I paid under $400 at the time.
@abasket go in person and see these two IPads. I was very pleasantly surprised at how very clear and nice the ipad 8 text was. It was way better than my first generation iPad Air.
I think the only way to know if the size will matter is by really trying the two. I did so and really for me the IPad 8 works well.
I have a new ipad mini (got it fall last year). I really like the mini because of its light weight. I need a good screen and the new mini with a smaller screen with better resolution is actually easier to see than the old big ipad.
