Cal is a match because there is a significant upward trend in grades, and SAT's are on target for an instater to get into the school. He plays sports, is president of his class, and founded a nonprofit organization.

You're just looking at his freshman grades and saying he's not a qualified.

i think you've got a good shot, only thing is im pretty sure colleges do check out your grades for freshmen yr, but its def a good thing that you improved a lotttt over the couple years. colleges def like to see that
and your ecs look pretty good too, so i'd say berkley would be somewhere inbetween a match and a reach

Getting into Haas totally depends on how you do your first 2 years at Cal, no one gets in out of high school. Why did you appoint yourself a "chancer" when you know so little about colleges?

Yes. that's why i titled it this way. could people please evaluate my chances and stop criticizing the 'chancer' thing. how does it do any good? thanks guys :)

i dont know much beyond admissions to berkeley, but if what above posters say is true about waiting 2 years to get into Haas, then your chances really should stay the same. I think you are a match for Cal. Do really well your first couple years and then start worrying about haas. good luck
