Time for tutors?

Hi, my parents are expecting high scores from me on the SAT/PSAT, so they're willing to hire me a tutor (i know, im stupid right?) and after researching across the interweb I was as lost as before on my selection of tutors. So if you have had a experience with a tutor, please do tell me the company(i.e princeton review), your experience, and your score(if dont mind :)) thanks!

P.S - princeton review's master tutor 1:1 plan looks really promising. and money isn't really a issue(no, im not spoiled, its draining my car fund lol)

so you joined College Confidential too. lol XD

Clue: lab

excuse me?

u know going to the lab with me >.>

Tutors arent worth your money

Don’t get a tutor. They aren’t worth it.

Well, my friend used the PR 1 on 1 tutoring program for her SAT II Math II exam. She scored a 580 because she ran out of time following the tutor’s “plug in the answer choices to get the right answer” “strategy.”

anyone with positive results? lol

if you get a tutor then make sure its not PR or Kaplan
get a dude who scored high

Ha, Funny that you would appear in a thread I was watching.

I’m also debating getting a tutor (at least maybe classes, whichever I deem to be more effective) to supplement my copious self study. It seems like a tutor would be useful, its just finding the right one.

STudy by yourself dude.

Keep in mind a tutor can only help you to a certain extent. Determination to score higher and get as many problems right as possible should be your tutors:D

The thing with tutors is that good ones cost money. A lot of money. The thing with SATI (I am refering to math) is that u should have a good grasp on the topics yourself and the tutor will help you find the fastest and easiest ways to manipulate your knowledge and get a good score. I suggest 1:1 tutors.

After working with my tutor for math for two years I am able to finish a 25 min section of math in 6 minuets and spend the rest of my time checking my work.

With this in mind, it is in my honest opinion that reading silverturtles guide several times for grammer is sufficiant enough to get constant 750s while CR just takes practice.

Again, just my opnion.

I’ve recently taken an SAT course in Kaplan. The first 2 words associating with my experience are both “bullsh1t”.
You’ll get in a class with some idiots, who slow everything down + except of practicing questions (which is better done by one’s self) they only keep discussing those “strategies”, which even those idiots-classmates can determine without anyone’s help.
If your parents are strongly convicted in you having a tutor, though, do personal lessons.

But they have a guranteee :)))
