I am a student who always maintains big goals, and will agree to doing extra work even if I’m depressed. Usually, I manage to pull through, but I have been having trouble recently because I took on too much this past year with a research scholarship. My GPA is dropping (currently to a 3.76) from procrastination, my health is the worst of my life, and I feel that I need to drastically change my current lifestyle.
I will take on less responsibility in the future, but my classes are becoming more difficult (Math major / CS minor : I graduate in two years / five years total) and I have a learning disability which slows me down. To do really good in my courses, I have to study 4 - 6 hours per hour in class. Does the daily schedule below seem reasonable, or is it too antisocial?
1 hour - Food
1 hour - Hygiene
3.5 hours - Classes / Travel / Research
8 hours - Sleep
8 hours - Homework / Studying
2.5 hours - Exercise / Flexibility / Meditation ; if my body is recovering, use part of this time to buy groceries.
How can I conduct this schedule while staying happy in school? Should I see a counselor? If so, how can they help?
