Time to party? I'm not into it...

OP: I’m the same way. Not that I haven’t tried partying, I have, I just don’t enjoy it. But I’m a little worried too that everyone at my school will either want to party all the time or just stay on campus 24/7. I’m probably going to school in a big city right near an awesome cultural district - tons of museums and cool little shops and hang outs and stuff, which is what I’d rather be doing. I just hope I’m not the only one venturing off campus while everyone else decides to stand in a dorm/house and awkwardly bob to music. Yeah, that sounds like fun…

go to one of these instead…

I agree with what everyone else says; you just have to try it out, and chances are, you’ll like it.

I go to one of the premier party schools in the nation, and my first week or so here was spent feeling uncomfortable and like I was in the wrong place because everyone was constantly partying and I was constantly the only sober guy around. Then, I went out once, and was hooked. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just people’s own way of having fun.

To most people, it’s not about going out and getting completely ****faced for no reason. The fun in it is getting mildly-drunk, and then mingling with people you don’t know. You become more social, and it’s the easiest and funnest way to meet people. If you’re nornally shy (as I can be), a couple shots can change that and you’ll feel more social and no longer care about people acting “immature.” And once your drunk, you don’t even notice/care other people’s drunkness because you’re drunk too.

And, if you try it and happen not to like it, no worries. No one worth knowing is gonna jodge you for it, and there are a million other ways to get involved and have fun around campus. It may seem like everyone gets engulfed in the party culture, but realistically, a hell of a lot of people don’t.

And hey, it’s college. Call people immature all you want, but people are gonna let loose. Try to find humor in it instead of just belittling them. Most of these people are pretty awesome when they’re sober.
