Is there a certain time line I should follow for transferring to another college? I plan on being at my current college for only a semester or a year at most. When should I start looking at colleges to transfer to? Should I contact the schools to ask what they require of a transfer? When should I interview? When should I start to visit colleges?

Read Transfer Admissions 101 sticky thread.

You can find what schools require of a transfer on their websites. I would not suggest contacting them to ask for information that can be gleaned from the website. Interviews may be relevant at some schools (but not many in my observation). You should visit when and if you have the time, or after acceptances. Visiting is a lot trickier when you are in college than when in hs, in my observation - but that will vary depending on the geography.

Is there a certain time when I should start the process of applying(Depending on which semester I would like to start in)?

Usually it depends on how anal you are? No offense meant. I did mine in two-three weeks. I don't think an extra month of prep would have helped. Maybe essays? There's only so much you can think about before you write something...

I dont mean how long should I work on my stuff like essays, I mean when should I start asking for recommendations, starting to apply to schools, etc.

Feb 15 and March 1 are transfer app deadlines for many schools, however, there is a lot of variability, with some earlier, some later and some rolling. Some accept mid-year transfers, some don't. You really have to look on the websites of the schools you are interested in to determine their deadlines are and what they require. As far as LORs, the earliest you can logically ask for one is at the end of your first qt/sem at school.
