Can anybody give me a timeline on when I should be doing certain things in the application process?

This is how it went for me, it varies so take into consideration deadlines that your MOCS may have.
-JUNIOR YEAR-
Jan 1st- submitted Summer Seminar Application, doubled as PCQ when I was accepted in March.
March 1st- Checked PCQ and updated any information.
-SENIOR YEAR-
August 18th- Received Candidate Packet, Signed Drug form, took teacher recs and transcript request to counselor. I also sent in the forms that the Academy recommends for requesting nominations, and then the MOC office sent their own application. I finished these late August.
September- All Cadidate forms completed with exception of CFA and essays.
October- CFA and Essays completed, awarded two interviews for nominations. Interviews took place in mid November.
November- Awarded noms to USAFA and USNA right before Thanksgiving.
December- Updated any new awards, grades, etc. Awarded appointment to USNA.
January- Sent in mid year transcript, updated final information.
February- Awarded appointment to USAFA, accepted appointment.
Also if you have any DODMERB issues, get them cleared up ASAP, I fortunately did not have this problem but many do and if you reply to any remedials, DQ's quickly reverse action can be taken. Anything else?

There's a timeline on the AFA website, in some of their pamphlets, etc.

A word of advice, try to get everything in as early as possible/appropriate, especially the congressional packets. www.academyadmissions.com has a timeline and a lot of other stuff.
