Okay, probably a dumb question, but, hey, I'm a parent.

My daughter (junior) is planning on taking the SAT I (first time) in June. The reason is that she wants to take an SAT II in May. Question: is she better off taking the SAT I twice this year (once in May and then in June?)

She is prepping pretty seriously for the SAT I right now, so hopefully all that preparation will be to her advantage in May and June.

I'm thinking she can take her SAT IIs in October/November of next year. She'll have more time to study for the subject tests in the fall, right?

Does this make sense? Is there any disadvantage to taking the SAT I and then doing it again a month later.

Hope someone can help (if I haven't totally confused you guys.!

Thanks

Well if your daughter can handle the stress of studying seriously and then re doing that whole thing in a month for the next test. If she studies seriously for the next 2.5 months till May, i'm sure that she will do fine. Sometimes overstudying actually hurts grades rather than help (based off first hand experience). It's all up to her though, my suggestions would be to take the May SAT test and wait for her scores. If they are what she hoped then she doesn't have to worry on retaking it. If they aren't give her some time to relax before the next one and take it in August.

If she is taking SAT IIs in subjects she is taking right now, she should take them as soon after the end of the course as possible. If she takes the SATs two months in a row, the feedback won't be as useful; she won't have any time to see what she got incorrect.
