I know it's a tad early, but I've been doing my lists for the things that I will be needing in college, and I found out that I cannot get many things at this point, and I will have to w8 to discuss it with my roommates.. so does that mean essentially that I won't be able to buy a broom, or get my bookcase until I have discussed it all with my roommates?

Wait for sales to buy all this stuff because it can get expensive, but really the only thing you seriously need to discuss with the roomie is tv/dvd, fridge and microwave (and a rug if you want one). Hold off on those until you know who you'll be living with. If you want a bookcase, just make sure it's a small one that will fit on your side of the room easily and you'll be fine. It's not the end of the world if you end up with 2 brooms in your room. Most things you'll get for the dorm are personal items, you can go ahead and buy these if you want. xl twin sheets, a comforter, a lamp, toiletries, desk accessories, etc.

I don't remember starting to shop for college stuff until like the July before college. I wouldn't say it's necessary to get everything now and then let it collect dust before leaving next year. I understand you're excited to go to Yale, but I'd consider worrying about other things in the meantime.

the thing is, it's important to know what I am going to do and when I am going to do it, cuz I have to book tickets from Greece, and they are getting more and more expensive as time goes by..

It's safe to go out and buy a broom. Chances of your roommate bringing a broom = almost 0.

You can borrow a vacuum in my dorm. Make sure wherever you live doesn't provide some sort of floor cleaning equipment.

You should wait. There's no point in getting things now, especially when there will be sales around school time and you haven't talked to your roomies yet.

If you are coming from Greece, then you shouldn't buy anything until you get here anyway. It'll be much cheaper to buy stuff here than there and have to ship it.
