Is the October sitting for the SAT too late for consideration for ED this fall? My daughter took it last month and will be taking SAT subject tests this June. She would like to take it one more time.
Thanks!

Our S took the SAT 2x, in the spring of junior year and again in OCT of the senior year. He also took the ACT in Sept of the senior year. Remember to sign up for automatically sending scores to the college of your choice. He applied ED and ALL information was in on time.

momneedsguidance, generally October SAT results to make it to us in time to be considered during ED but we cannot guarantee that they will make it on time because score reporting isn’t up to us. If your D does take the SAT in October make sure she notes that in the standardized testing portion of the application.

You could also consider having your D take the SAT in June and the SAT IIs in October. Since W&M neither requires nor recommends SAT IIs that might be the way to go.

Thanks so much - I hadn’t thought of switching the SAT and the SAT II’s. Like you said, they aren’t a consideration for W&M so that make perfect sense timing wise.

Yes, we assume the College Board will allow you to switch your testing reservation if you’ve already made it but definitely check with them.

I meant switching the plan not the actual registration :)

She ended up registering for the SAT Subject tests in May (takes the APUSH exam Friday and the SAT II US History the next morning…should be fresh in her mind!) and the SAT again in June. Then if she wants to try again (#3) in October she can…but I don’t think she’ll need to. She did quite well…just wants to do better :)

Thanks once again W&M Admissions!

Got it. We just weren’t sure if you had registered for the June SAT IIs if College Board would let you switch to the SAT I but the May/June plan sounds great. If your D isn’t satisfied with the June SAT she could also consider the Sept. ACT as those scores do generally reach us in time to be considered during ED

In my own experience, I took the SAT in October and applied ED. I may have rushed my scores, but I don’t remember… My scores got there in time anyhow.

Yes, generally Oct. SATs do get here in time to be considered during ED review but we cannot guarantee that they will whether rushed or not. We just want to make sure students are aware of that. Also, Oct. ACT scores generally do not arrive in time.
