I've always had timing issues with reading and science sections. I know that you aren't allowed to have watches that beep. Every watch/timer that i've come across had the beeping feature. I finally found a timer on the internet that was beepless and bought it.
I took it to the test-center and they said that i couldn't use one.
Is that true? or did i just get screwed over?

Yea you can have a watch but not a timer. No electronic devices may be present on desk. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CLOCK IN MY ROOM!!

This is everyone's problem with the test... it isnt necessarily the questions, but the time. You really just have to keep practicing and make something that works for you... I don't read any of the reading passages except for the prose, and for sciences, I rarely read the passages, only when they are needed to answer a question.

get an analog watch then change the minute and hour hands to 12:00 everytime a new section starts

or put a strap/string on that beepless timer and then you have a makeshift watch.

Would people agree that there is market demand for ACT/SAT allowable watch/timers? I would buy one for 20 bucks. well maybe not now that I'm almost done with testing, but i would have junior year.

i like the way you think fastfood, hahaa.

yea, it wasn't too big of a problem for me because i practiced so many times doing the tests in like 30 instead of 35 for sci and reading. but i was just wondering cuz it kinda made me mad. ahh well.

i second Razor-i did that all through the ACT

practice is the best way to prepare for the test's timing. I know if I'm falling behind by "gut" feeling. Although, this math section was tough. I knew I was in trouble at about the halfway mark.

thanks for the suggestions guys. :)

I just brought a typical timex digital wrist watch and left it on my desk. Every time a new section began, I would use the stopwatch feature and quickly hit the start button. I know it counts up as opposed to a timer, but it helped me know how much time was left and if my pacing was too slow. I had two proctors in my room and neither said anything to me about it.

just get those non-sporty watches...
