Timing

Daughter gave her apps to the GC two days ago and requested teacher recs at the same time. When should have I have (because I control the check book) her ACT scores sent to the colleges?

I think you can do it anytime. I think the schools just hold onto them, anticipating the rest of the application.

Thank you Weenie. These are the tiny questions that make my brain explode.

I hear ya'.

BOOM!!!

Ouch.......

zoosermom,
although I am sure that weenie is right, and the scores can be sent any time , I felt that it was "safer" to start sending info that comes separately after submitting Part 1 of application (+ fee) to the schools that have apps in 2 parts (which most private schools do, I think). That way your kid already has a file where all the info should go.

I agree with nngmm.

We outsmarted ourselves last August when S decided to submit fee, supplemental app and test scores. Even though CB said it would send the scores out within 4 weeks, the scores were actually uploaded the same day. Somehow, they crossed with the fee and app, and we received a card several months later saying his application was incomplete -- no SAT scores.

It was fairly easily resolved, but in retrospect, we probably should have waited a day or so to request test scores, just to let everything fall into place electronically at the school. But who knew CB would send the scores out the same day?

The GC has the applications and doesn't say when they will be mailed. Should I wait for cancelled checks?

The school usually e-mails you when they have received your app and something is incomplete. I remember one school e-mailed and reminded us to send in scores from the CB or ACT. Some of my S's schools did not need the scores from the CB and used the ones from his transcript.

"Daughter gave her apps to the GC two days ago"

Wow. I can't even get my kid to open Fiske.

"Wow. I can't even get my kid to open Fiske."

Not bragging. The situation is (a) organization and preparedness are a major part of her personality (b) she knows I had concerns about all she has taken on this semester and (c) I'm facing a serious illness that may require that she really help out at home for a period of time in the next month or two.

Brag away. A kid that organized and motivated deserves to succeed. Get well.

I think you can send them. Maybe just have your daughter call sometime closer to the deadline to make sure they have them on file.

My daughter sent her SAT and SAT II scores to her entire list already, prior to filing any applications. I think someone, Dean J I think, covered this issue in another thread. It was said that the schools receive the scores and input them into a database that is then cross referenced in some way to submitted applications. At least that was my understanding. Both my sons also submitted their test scores prior to submitting applications and we never had any situations where the school said they had not reeived the scores. Maybe we were just lucky.
