Tina Turner passed away at 83 - RIP

Very, very sad. RIP, dear friend.

I saw this. :frowning: I will never picture her old. Just younger (not overly young but a bad a_s 50 year old) with great legs, wild hair and musically on fire. :broken_heart: RIP

Contrary to her songā€™s title, we do need another hero, and the world lost one today. RIP Tina.

She had to learn the German language and Swiss history to become a citizen of Switzerland, where she lived in Kusnacht, near Zurich with her husband. Beautiful area.

RIP, Tina. We were fortunate to see her perform during her last tour in 2008; she was 69 and the show was fantastic.

To be clear, she had to learn the German language and Swiss history.

Sad. Simply the best.

I remember being blown away by Tina Turnerā€™s moves at 66 years old when Oprah Winfrey granted Felicity Huffmanā€™s wildest dream to be a backup singer. She recruited Tina to help and Tina just rocked it.

RIP Tina.

We were so sad here to read about this.

If you have the opportunity, earlier this year we had the opportunity to see Tina - the Tina Turner Musical on tour and it was amazing and had me doing all sorts of reading about her life. She really was amazing in so many ways and this show FAR exceeded our expectations. It is her music being sung in the show and she was part of creating the production. The tour cast is amazing.

Here she is in Tommy the rock opera by the Who. I think it speaks for itself.

Yes she learned German, and also Swiss history. Iā€™ll edit my post.

Among the many reasons that this is sad for me (and probably billions around the world) was that she was SO strong. Basically indestructible.

I watched a couple of interviews with her just now, and she was a remarkably down-to-earth person, even being a mega superstar.

She is DEFINITELY one whose spirit will live forever.

ETA: Hereā€™s a nice interview with two legends, Ms. Turner and Mike Wallace in 1996 on

Her property in Kusnacht was beautiful.

Tina was/is Simply the Best. She is my most favorite female singer/artist. RIP.

Came across this Youtbe clip of Tina Turner on Letterman in 1993. She sings a song then chats about touring with the Rolling Stones. She was such a beautiful woman.

Skip ahead to ~7:00 for her impression of Mick Jagger dancing. Hilarious and spot on!
