Tips for a freshman please?

Hi

Semester 1 of 9th grade of High School just ended a week ago... and I am panicking..
I used to be a straight A students all throughout Middle School, but I started to procrasctinate... and I don't know... my grades dropped *so much! I feel like my life is over and I am really depressed because of my poor outcome...:(
Will this affect my future college application?
Do you have any tips/advice that you can give me to have a good high school life?

Thanks

i think colleges scrap your freshman year grades. I think

Don’t worry, from what I’ve noticed, this happens to a lot of people. (Not me of course  )
People just blow off freshman year but, i’d say just apply yourself and STOP GOOFING OFF and, maybe just maybe you’ll have a shot at that good college you want to get into.

--------> As for the middle-school thing, High-school is alot harder so don’t expect to get straight As not studying like you may have done in Middle-school. Treat HS serious and you’ll do fine.

What are your grades by the way?

I’m going to give you one piece of advice: LIFE ISN’T OVER IF YOU DROPPED A LITTLE FRESHMAN YEAR. You still have six semesters to get it right.

Yeah…really…you’re one eighth of your way through high school.

I know things might seem stressful now, with no end in sight, but all you gotta do is try a little harder. Sure high school isn’t as easy as middle school, and I guess it only gets harder, theoretically, but I’m positive you’re a smart kid if you’re coming on here and asking for help.

And also, don’t let yourself think that anything below a 4.0 UW is bad  I got into one of the most intellectual schools in the country (Reed, baby. Yeah!) with a 3.72, which is still a stellar GPA by most kids’ opinions. Coincidentally, what IS your GPA now?

If you let this weigh you down, you’ll only regret it further in the future.

Upward grade trends are what colleges look for. Focus on this.

Don’t worry about it. Just work harder throughout high school and put in more effort to keep your grades up. If the rest of your grades in high school are really good, colleges will probably overlook your first semester grades. Also, an upward grade trend will show that you’re capable of working hard to improve yourself.

Here’s your problem. You’re not smart. You thought you were because you could get A’s in middle school, but you’re not. This happens to tons of kids. Either revolutionize your lifestyle and start studying in order to artificially boost your grades, or be satisfied with the subpar grades you deserve.

yeah. no more Harvard for you, missy. off to your local community college!

Don’t listen to these haters! How would they know if you are smart or not?! I say its really common the closer you get to college the more lazy you get! Yeah I don’t know why just happens. However you can turn it around and start off great next semester! And you still have chances at all college you want (even Harvard). GOOD LUCK! :)

@wesley108- thank you:) im glad some people are at least being helpful. ;)

to people who were asking before about my GPA, it’s a 3.67 unweighted. i guess some people might say its not horrible but my school is super academic.
thanks for your responses :)

Brush yourself off and work harder. When your a junior you will miss how simple freshmen year was. If your thinking of elite schools many don’t even consider freshmen year like Princeton. You have a long way to go, you can do it.

^ A GPA like that can get you into a lot of schools. Were you expecting a 4.0?

@toxic93 noo i was not expecting a 4.0. i took some new courses this year so i didnt expect to a straight A person… but then i was expecting higher than 3.67

Oh, all I can say is study more. Find what class your doing bad in and get help from the teacher and maybe ask for any extra credit you can do.

There really isn’t much more to getting good grades in HS than doing your homework and studying for tests. Just bite the bullet and never get another B…

@toxic93 thanks:)

wow, she’s complaining about a 3.67. I though she had a 2.9 or something. WOW.

Only on CC.

You can get a McDonald’s application if you ask the cashier.

I honestly believe that a 3.67 as a freshman is terribly bad. Wait till you get into some AP classes and tell me what you think of those lol
