Tips for a Sophomore in high school!?!? HELP!!!

Hello

I know that some people might say that I should not be worrying about college right now (my friends tell me that all the time), but I am basically freaking out about college already. And I have plenty of reason to worry!!

Here are my stats I guess:

Current GPA: 3.4 (by the end of this year I will probably have a 3.515)
PSAT: I got a 90% on the PSAT with no studying AT ALL
Extra Curriculars:
-Varsity cross country and track (both frosh and soph years)~ I got 5th at California's state meet in my division for cross country this year, and have a 5:10 mile time, I am hoping to be recruited by colleges, and to give some more perspective I have already been informally contacted by UCLA and Pepperdine University, based on my running (it was not a recruitment though, just a survey thing and letter that was mailed to me, I cannot formally be recruited until Sept 1st of my junior year according to NCAA rules)
-I am a weekly volunteer at my school Crossroads program: I tutor middle school kids from a low-income public middle school (that I attended 2 years ago) and help them with their homework, and studying for upcoming tests, etc.
-I am a member on my school's Yearbook Committee, and I will be co-Editor in Chief next year and my senior year
(I'm not sure if this counts as an EC, but)-The past two summers I babysat a developmentally disabled girl, basically every day during the summer, and it was actually an extremely meaningful experience for me
Gender/Ethnicity: Female, Caucasian and Pacific Islander

That is basically it.. My freshman year and first half of sophomore year I completely slacked off and focused mainly on my running: I came from a huge public middle school where I was not challenged at all, and basically breezed through my classes and then I entered a small, private, extremely competitive high school where I was shocked at the intensity of my classes and struggled to earn top grades. This past winter, something just clicked and this last quarter I got a 3.72, which I hope to raise this quarter as well. So, I am basically asking for tips and advice on how to overall improve my college resume. Thanks a ton!!

Well… you need to raise your GPA if you would like to get into UCLA or other top schools.

The sports factor would definitely be a big thing, especially if you are recruited.

For your PSAT, it depends on whether you are 90th percentile or 90 percent of questions correct. Just try to study for the tests over summer and take it early Junior year to see where you stand.

damnnnn 5:10 for the mile? thats so fast :]

Anyway, I think UCLA like to recruit people for sports and such, my friend got recruited for softball and I thought that was really cool. Your xc and track stuff is probably going to help a lot!
