So I noticed the thread about sophomores taking the SAT. As a current sophomore, I'm planning on taking them in May and I was wondering what methods would be the best for studying. I have pretty good PSAT scores (213, 69 M, 74 CR, 70 W). I own the Blue Book, both Direct Hits volumes, and Gruber's. I know the practice tests in the Blue Book are best, but is it worth it to use them all up now? Any information would be so much appreciated!

bump

Anything would be helpful…

What state are you in? You might have a shot at National Merit next year with PSAT.

I wouldn’t take too many SAT practice tests, just use the one in May as practice. I’m guessing though you’re aiming for ivy league type schools?

I’m in NJ.

Yeah, I think I might have a decent shot at Ivies and the like with my stats, so obviously the higher score, the better! I have some familiarity with the SAT, since I took it for talent search stuff in sixth grade, so my reasoning behind taking it this year is to have a good fallback score to take some stress off of junior year. Of course, though, if I can score high enough to not have to take it at all again, that would be wonderful!

So, I should just use the test as a diagnostic and take it cold?

I doubt (though I might be wrong) that you would get an ivy-caliber score your first time. Maybe take one practice test and do a little review before hand and then use it as a diagnostic test.
I got the same score on the PSAT and then didn’t do nearly as well on the SAT. If the same happens to you, don’t get too discouraged, cuz at least for everyone I talked to the first time SAT score wasn’t as good as the PSAT for a variety of reasons.

Good luck and don’t fret about it too much. You’re just a sophmore lol.

Okay. Thank you so much for all the advice!

Np. Would you mind weighing in on my resum
