I'm looking for general advice for a transfer student on how to get acclimated to a new school quickly. I'm assuming it's similar to freshman year, join some clubs, be active, etc. Is there anything different that transfers should do?

It is like Freshman year, except all the sophomores will already have friends they made during Freshman year. It is harder to break into the social scene in a larger school. Try to meet other transfers. Hopefully your school will have some kind of a transfer orientation that helps with that. Join clubs, try to get out of your room. Don’t get behind in academics because all schools have different styles of teaching. Where you came from might not be the same as your new college. Don’t be surprised if it’s hard to make friends, but don’t give up. By your junior year you’ll probably settle in.
