I was recently rejected from my top-choice/dream school. I do have some great options and am still waiting to hear back from a bunch, but they are all reaches so I won’t get accepted to those, which I am not even mad about at this point. But dealing with rejection from my dream school and a couple other schools has been super difficult to accept and each time I’m rejected I feel like I end up grieving the loss of that school. I was wondering if any of you have any tips for dealing with these feelings?
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Sad Senior
Your going to have to disappoint some schools that accepted you.
Have some swagger and pick the best option carefully. Grill them hard! You are now in charge!
You will soon realize how little it matters who rejected you. They are irrelevant to your future.
Don’t let a college admissions office who has never even met you have any say in determining you self worth.
Your college experience will largely be whatever you make it.
You can only attend one college so as long as you have been accepted to one school you like and that is affordable you are in great shape.
Embrace the schools that embrace you.
@ClassicRockerDad Thank you so much. I guess the shock of realizing this idealized college experience I imagined at this one particular school isn’t going to happen is disconcerting, but now it gives me an opportunity to explore the good schools I did get into and embrace that. Thank you!
@happy1 That’s very true… I’ll find aspects I like from my dream school in other schools and maybe it will be even better since they do want me ahah. Thank you!
Chin up. The rejection feels personal now but the reality is the schools reject for so many strange reasons. You will do fine wherever you go.
I agree that you should love the ones that showed you the love and forget about the ones that did not.
@MassDaD68 For sure. I guess now there is no point in me stressing over why I “wasn’t good enough” because it could have been something out of my control. Maybe the school I’ll end up in will be a better fit anyways. Thank you.
^^^Likely you were “good enough” but the schools simply could not accept all of the qualified applicants. Go forth and be happy and successful at a school that has accepted you.
