Does anyone have any tips for getting into Brown? I am applying regular decision and I really want to attend

IMO, the Brown application is 'easier' than that of other colleges, including the Common App. It reminds me of the UCAS (UK) college applications: straight to the point and devoid of the increasingly weird questions that pepper other apps. Your aspirations, concerns, yourself - the basic stuff. So, to an extent, your options are limited. That might help you to concentrate and write something focused.

With everyone waxing lyrical about how much they love the college and how wonderful they are as tree-hugging, hand-holding human beings, I suppose there's a limit to how well you can present yourself in the app. This might sound counter-intuitive but I think it might do you good to reveal a flaw, a defect in yourself. Tell them about a weakness of your's, something you're aware of and are trying to correct. Nothing serious, of course - it'd be dumb to tell Admissions you've got a fetish for toes. Perhaps something like your hotheadedness. Or natural tendency to think too much - and miss great chances. Something minor but not so irrelevant as to sound ridiculous.

That might distinguish you from all pumped-up applicants.

Write a really good Why Brown essay - I applied ED and this is what I did. Also if you applying for one of the sciences (minus bio, neurobio, etc) DO THE ESSAYS. I'm sure they helped me.

nice . . . good advice!

yeah, real nice advices! wudanyan, can you be a little more specific on the "write a really good why brown essay?" Sorry, is that I ALWAYS hear this, but nobody really specified on it. What do you mean by a "real good" Why Brown essay? Thanks a lot : D

what i did was that i imagined myself there. i believed that if i can see myself there, so can the adcoms that are reading my application. my essay basically described a few hours of brown life (on a typical day), i basically talked about sitting

also, incorporate both academic & extracurrics into your essay.

i dont know what else i did, haha. it was short. just imagine yourself there <-- this is key!
