Who says girls can’t go to the gym?
Who says girls can’t play sports?
I think you know what I would say for his last bullet…haha jk

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Or at least don’t do it too much. It will ruin your life and you will regret it and want to die. Especially during junior year.

To-Do lists really help. Write down what needs to get done, close your door, turn off your phone, and work for a few hours. Once you get stuff done, actually cross them off your list. It gives you a feeling of accomplishment and keeps you going. Reward yourself, maybe with a 10-minute conversation with a friend, read a chapter of a book you’re into, eat a candy bar, etc.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask for help. If you don’t understand something, go ask your teacher/classmates right after a lecture or homework problem. Because when the test is coming, they won’t have all the attention to give to you. So always ask ASAP.

Study groups also help. If you have friends who take similar classes, get together. Actually study. It’s more fun and you learn more from each other.

Good luck!!

I will be a freshman also! So excited but nervous at the same time!

@winter21
I feel the exact same way as you :D

@shawnspencer I see you quoted (well not quoted exactly) me from a few days ago xD This is actually the thread that made me start mine.

My advice is if you’re not happy with how you were in middle school, change that around! I was miserable and hated going to school in 8th grade, but now I have a fresh start in high school. I know it’s easier said than done, but simply talking to more people can change who you were (hopefully for the better) :)

Go to freshman orientation and walk to each class in order. You don’t want to walk around the school lost during the first day. Try to find friends in some of your periods, ESPECIALLY lunch. Post your schedule on Instagram or something xD But it may come off as bragging, if you’re taking a lot of hard classes. Sitting alone in lunch is not fun…

Don’t worry about a B. It’s not like it’s going to be the difference between Harvard and community college. Don’t spend your entire high school career doing what colleges want. Do what you want xD You’re only going to be in high school once, and it’s the last time you’ll be a kid. Who wants to waste that precious time studying all day and doing ECs that you hate?

Don’t care about how much better your peers are doing. If your best friend got a 95 on a test you got an 83 on, just ignore it. I know it may be hard, but really, don’t let it get to you. Maybe they got lucky, or maybe you had a bad day. And if they always do better than you, know that no matter what, you’re a wonderful person and nothing is wrong with you :)

Especially don’t care about how well others are doing on CC. Just because you didn’t take AP Calc BC in 8th grade, cure cancer by the age of 15, and save the country of Nicaragua from starvation, doesn’t mean you don’t have a shot at getting into a good school. And besides, I’m pretty sure some people lie on here xD

Being Asian, it may get a little racist. If your school has a lot of Asians, I’m sure you won’t be as affected. This made me think of the two Asian cliques in Mean Girls xD If people are making mean comments or anything, joke around about it and eventually they’ll just stop. This goes for bullying in general. Just joke about it, and they’ll notice they’re not hurting you in any way. They’ll just get bored and stop xD If it gets serious though, talk to someone about it. Don’t just pretend nothing’s happening, because it really can harm you. If you’re ever feeling depressed or suicidal, please talk to someone. When you’re depressed, you think a lot of weird, demented things… It’s pretty bad, please try to get help if you’re ever in that situation :)

Be friendly to everyone You don’t have to necessarily be best friends with everyone, but be nice in general. Like, say hi sometimes in the halls and smile. Don’t care if people don’t like you, though.

Research colleges. If you only want to go to an Ivy League, you haven’t done any research. I’m not saying you do! It’s just that most people think that Ivy League schools are the best, when some of them aren’t. There are a lot of schools that are just as good as or even better than the Ivies. The Ivy League is an athletic conference after all. It’s just a coincidence that they all are decent schools.

Get sleep! High school is a terrible time to lose lots of sleep, since your brain is still developing. If you’re constantly pulling all-nighters, that’s a good sign that you need to manage your time better. I understand that sometimes it may be literally impossible to have enough time every day for homework, studying, and ECs. You may need to drop some things. But in the long run, you’ll perform a lot better and be happier if you do.

Um, I don’t know if any of that advice was helpful xD I know it was a mess, but… meh… I’m going to be a freshie next year as well, so I really have no idea what’s going on, either. But I am taking summer school, and I have a general idea! The first day of school, I just followed everyone else cause I had no idea where my class was. It was my first time being in the building. Then, when I started panicking, I looked into the room that was closest. Turns out, I saw my friend sitting, and that was where I had Speech! xD I hope I helped you in some sort of way, though High school really isn’t as stereotypical as it’s often seen on TV and in movies cough Mean Girls cough and the people are generally nice and down to earth Remember that everyone else is just as nervous as you are. And also, good luck! Maybe we can PM eachother and stuff? :3

Thank you so much for your advice! ^^
