I have posted here before wanting info about the USMA application process, and got great responses, so, I'm at it again :-P

I am a bit worried that becuase of my lack of leadership EC's, I may not have a strong chance at getting in. My GPA is 3.96 unweighted, and my ACT is 28 overall (have taken multiple times so I have better individual scores that make it around a 29). The only EC's I really have are hockey, key club, s.a.d.d. (students against destructive decisions), and 1 year boxing training. I was hoping to get some tips as to anything I could do to maybe somehow improve and have some leadership EC's. I did spend sophmore year of H.S. living abroad in British Columbia for hockey, and am trying to think if I can use that to my advantage somehow, and if it will be looked upon favorably. If anyone has any input, I'd love to hear it!

Also, should I be expecting an application soon if my candidate website file has been updated?

AndrewZ: If you do a search on "whole candidate score" you will find lots of tips on this topic. You are right, WP admissions looks for leadership potential as well as academic and athletic achievement, so look for leadership opportunities and take advantage of them.
Have you been captain of a sports team or had a leadership role in a club? When you were living abroad did you do anything that would highlight your leadership potential?
If you look at the stats of a recent class you will get a feel for the type of activities that WP values.

I think you're right to look to the hockey experience for your Admissions process. Your skill level is likely very high to justify leaving home for a year during high school in order to have better training and competition.

Ann is correct in pointing you to info on the WCS. Also, you may want to consider taking the SAT. Some students find one of the exams fits their style better than the other. Finally, be very prepared for the nomination and MALO interviews.

AndrewZ: One other thing to consider, if you don't have a lot of demonstarted leadership (in the way of elected positions etc.) your recommendation letters will be really important.
