Tips for Long and Short Double Reading Passages

Hi!
I want to raise my CR scores to above 700. Currently, I have a lot of problem with double passage.

I hardly get 1 or 2 correct answers.

I can often do most, if not all, sentence completion, single passage questions.
I have done many sat sets. six online, few blue book tests and many Mcgraw hills, barrons reading too.
I am always stuck with 2000+ with low CR scores.

Some times I feel like "DAMN.." and i broke my pencil and and tore my test.
I am desperately in need. Very desperately.

Its funny how similar situation is. I had the same problem in the begining. The double passages always screwed me over. Thats when I calmed down and formulated a general strategy that worked well. Cut down my wrong answers to 1 wrong to almost none every time. Remember these guys are tricky and you have to think while doing them

The most basic concept is to read the passages seperately. You cannot read them both and answer the question because you will mix things up.

While reading the first passage quickly scan the questions for line reference questions. For example you see that there is a question regarding to lines 8-9. Go back and read the passage until lines 10-11 to get a good grasp. Then go answer that question.

Then read the next paragraph and go back to look for questions regarding that paragraph. This way focus soley on the questions pertaining to the passage without getting mixed up.

After answer all the line reference questions, youv pretty much read the passage. Now go back and answer the general questions about passage one. The questions like what was the main idea or what was the author trying to convey.

Now do the exact same thing for passage two. Repeat 1-4.

Now that you have answered the questions regarding to each passage you have to finish it off with questions which compare/contrast the two passages. So now you have two-three questions left.

Since you have already read both passages and have a good feel take an attempt at them. If you cant seem to single out an answer briefly skim each passage once more and review your thoughts/answers you marked down to pick the best one.

You should be finished

Hopefully this works. This is working well for me so good luck.

thanks. i will see if it works.
