Tips for managing classes well

We had a lot of orientation stuff at our school yesterday, especially about like how hard our classes are going to be and stuff.

Our AP Euro teacher and english teacher(they are combined), told us that we will be getting hard work. Only 13% get an A in english, and 25% in history. I have one more honors class, an annoying spanish class, and a timeconsuming elective/co-corricular.

What would advise for classes like AP Euro. Basically, there, you have like the smartest people, all competing each other. What would make me come out on top? Thanks.

READ. Make time to read and study for Euro. Euro is all about knowing the material. Even if you don't pay attention in class, learn to love your text.

Worship your books. Pick a corner of your house, get a light, and devour your precious books until you go insane. I figured out - thats the answer to everything :D

Yep, thats how I did well on AP USH. Just read your textbook many times, read supplemental material, like a reviewbook or five. Also, try to find out what you will be learning in class ahead of time and prepare the day before by reading up on that material. It helps make it easier for you to absorb it if you are already familiar with the topic.

First of all, don't get hung up on those percentages. Also, I don't think you necessarily have to come out "on top" of all your classmates, just set your own goal and try to attain it.

I never took AP Euro, but for AP USH I would read and then make flashcards on what I read, then study those. For me, reading didn't guarantee I actually learned anything since the textbook was so boring, but making the flashcards forced me to review. Also, don't be afraid to look up information on Wikipedia or other websites to clarify anything.

Honestly, party. If during the week and most of the weekend you study as the above posters have recommended (which is probably a pretty good idea if you want to come out on top), then on the weekend get out of the house, away from the books, and have a good night. Don't get carried away and let it get in the way of schoolwork, but don't deny yourself what you find fun. Like to drink? Hit up a kegger, whenever you want to and can comfortably take a night off. Same goes with weed, movies, shopping, acid, cow-tipping, ding-dong-ditching, and having fireworks wars in the park after closing hours---do what's fun. It's no good to work all the time. Not only does it make Jack a dull boy, but you won't be as refreshed and willing to study when you have to. Even if you find yourself smothered by homework 13 out of every 14 nights, in that brief respite get out and party hard, have fun. It's worth it.

Man, we speak the same language! :)
I've found out that to become successful with ease, you've got to have passion for what you're doing. Obsession works even better. Which is why I totally worship my academic materials and take extra good care of them. I found that organization helps me to like the thing more and thus become more devoted.
I do it regardless of what people think. They can call me psycho, if they want. :)

Don't let the GPA issue stop you from taking these AP classes. However, you're also not obligated to take these AP classes.

You don't have to be the perfect student. Nobody will care in 10 years if you were at the top of your class or if you only took half as many AP classes or any AP classes.

pay a tutor lots of ben franklins to do it for you.
or just do it yourself

honestly, study skills are not something you "learn." If you have to learn it, you don't want to do it. where theres a will theres a way

Dude, are we related?!!

:p

Must be! If you're male, then you must be my long lost brother! If female, then my long lost sister! Oh joy to the world! The best day of my life! I've found thee!

Alas, let us rejoice, for I have found my lost brother! Two brothers have been united after an age of seperation and woe!

Everybody break it down now! :D

I'm a girl. :(
Lol. No hard feelings.
LONG LOST BROTHER! embraces

LOL, haha sorry :p
We share similar beliefs; I agree with many things you said on your thread, "Balancings ECs and Something" :p
Yaay! embrace

That's cool. :) I tolerate different opinions but of course talking to someone with similar opinions always goes so much smoother.
Hmm yeah I've always wondered how people here on CC have managed to juggle so many ECs and superior academics. So it turns out they're part Dracula. Makes sense.
