Tips For Nass

I am at NASS rite now first session. My biggest recommendation is bring ALOT of socks. I am talking about planning on 2 to 3 pairs a day to stay comfortable. It is very hot so bring a fan. Also, begin doing more pushups, situps and running NOW as it will help ALOT. I recommend bringing your cel phone, as most call home at night and the mids don't really care about that. Other than that, just stay motivated.

I bet the heat and humidity feels just wonderful to the kids...My son left his cell phone home because he just wanted the experience with no parent involvement. While I want to know everything thats happening, I think he was right in not bringing it so he can simulate on a micro scale what it might be like in Plebe year if he is accepted to the Academy and our family can feel what it is like to have no communication with him. That doesn't mean I like it.

You do not need any workout shirts only workout shorts; one shirt for the mixer. I was surprised that the shoes came home ok. Actually the clothes came home ok; they just needed to be washed. It is probably a good idea to bring a belt for your kaki shorts. Use your suncreen.

Bring multiple pairs of shorts, too, especially if you sweat a lot. Mine smelled like garbage by the end of the week, as did all my physical activity gear. Spray deodorant for your clothing like this wouldn't be such a bad idea, either.

Great idea, magMA!. "Axe" smells good. My son misses it already. Being back at his school now, he was so impressed with the caliber of individual as NASS even if they don't end up at USNA. He said they all seemed excellent in their own way. As far as the midshipmen/SEALS etc, he wants to go to the academy to try to attain their excellence. He really appreciates all the effort it has taken to be where there are now.

Bring gatorade or powerade powder to add to your water. This will really help
