Tips for New Brunswick Business school

Hey guys.

I'm going to be a junior in high school in the fall. What are my chances of getting into Rutgers New Brunswick school of business?

SAT - 1770 (this was a practice test, I think my real SAT score is around 1680-1730)

GPA - 3.9 freshmen year (unweighted), I got all A's sophomore year so my GPA should be very close to 4.0

Level 1 (Accelerated) in all my courses... Should I be taking honors or AP courses to improve my chances of getting in?

Extracurricular Activities - I volunteered at the YMCA last summer but I'm not really sure if that counts. I didn't join any clubs Freshmen and Sophomore year, but I'm thinking about joining the key club in September

I'm honestly very worried about my SAT score (it's pretty bad). If I get around 1810-1850 on my SAT, do I have a chance of getting into the business school?

Thanks

Yes, I think you have a good chance. Apply early to increase your chances.

Thanks.

I also read online that you could transfer to the business school if you go to the school of arts and sciences and complete certain courses and get a certain grade, but I’m still a little confused of how it works.

You can do that, but I think it’s easier to get into the Business School as a freshman. If you started out in SAS, you would need to take certain courses and have a required GPA as a sophomore. Supposedly Accounting and Finance require higher GPAs than other majors and it depends on how many are applying that year for transfer.

Cumulative Grade-Point Requirement
Because admission to Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate - New Brunswick is highly competitive and the number of applications and spaces available in the school may vary from one application cycle to the next, the cumulative grade-point average needed for admission may also vary from one application cycle to the next. The Advisory Committee on Admissions for Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate - New Brunswick determines the cumulative grade-point average needed for admission each application cycle; only grades received in Rutgers-New Brunswick courses are included in the cumulative grade-point average used for admission. Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate - New Brunswick calculates the cumulative grade-point average in a uniform manner regardless of the student’s undergraduate college.
Transfer students who are admitted into Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate - New Brunswick are admitted based on the cumulative grade-point average from the college that they most recently attended where they have completed 12 or more credits.

My son had 1830 on his SAT and lower GPA and got in. Although all of his classes were honors, he had no APs. He did take honors Calc and honors Stats in high school so not sure if the advanced math classes helped him.I think with your GPA and a score of 1800s on the SAT will give you a good chance. And APPLY EARLY!!

Alright thanks for all the advice and help guys! :D

I’m a little confused about applying to RBS. Is RBS one of the schools (such as pharmacy or engineering) that one applies to as a senior in high school? If so, and I get in, then am I not part of SAS, and therefore, do not need to take the core curriculum classes required by SAS?
