Hey guys,

it's pretty weird, but unlike most people, I SUCK AT THE SHORT PARAGRAPH READING D: Like I usually get 1-2 wrong in those 4 questions. Anyway to improve? My problems range from everywhere!

I used to get 1-2 but I then practiced doing this: Read the short paragraph first then do both questions. If it is passage 1 and passage 2 and the 4 questions are on the same 2, read both passages first. This way is probably the most quick.

If you still get questions wrong then you need to start dissecting the paragraph and see what you didn’t understand.

So basically read them both then answer them both?

Try reading the questions first so that you get an idea of what to look for, and then go read the passage. Have you tried that?

If it is a double passage, read the first passage, answer the question related to it. After that, read the second passage, and answer the question related to it. Then, only after that, answer the questions that are related to both of the passages.

I have never tried reading all the questions first, But I did do the second one (If it is a double passage, read the first passage, answer the question related to it. After that, read the second passage, and answer the question related to it. Then, only after that, answer the questions that are related to both of the passages.). Will reading the question first still work on double passages?

I second Over2100. Read the questions first to know what to look for. I always do that.

I take a quick glance at the questions for double passages too as it doesn’t take long and it helps me focus on key points. Also, the main important thing for double passages is to find out how the passages are different because if you understand the difference, the two questions that are related to both passages will become easier.

But, don’t read all the 4 questions before answering the first passage because your head would be full of unnecessary questions. Just read the question related to the first passage, then read it, answer it. Then, read the question for second passage, read the passage, answer it.
