Tips How to Handle Crazy AP Classes

Hey guys!

I haven't popped in here for a while, as I'm on exhcnage right now. Well, to the point.

I registered for classes for my senior year and it has seven APs on it. no one in my school has every attempted so many, so I'm beginning to get nervous ("Have you lost your mind, kid!?"). The purpose of this thread is just to ask how the rest of you handle all those APs at one time! Any tips or suggestions would be really great.

And also, if anyone has ever had a tutor to help them along in certain subjects (more clarification, extra practice, etc.), I'd like your input as well.

Glad to be back!

Hmmm...good luck on that.
My only advice is to avoid procrastination and break the work up over the amount of days. Your senior year is way hard--not just because of APs...but because all that stupid work is on top of your billion and one college applications, getting papers to your guidance counselors, making sure they ACTUALLY get done, filling out fafsa/css, filling out scholarship apps, fighting with others for class rank, retaking SAT....relationships....and the classic cases of senioritis. By friday I'm on the verge of emotional breakdown every week.
Just...don't put off your applications, make use of christmas break (and other breaks) and weekends so that you don't have to stay up past 2 every night. If you manage your time well, you'll be ok. (I was being a little bit dramatic earlier)

Um, this is my general tip (I was in the same situation-taking all honors at my school is considered brutal and they basically dissuade you) for doing well with lots of hard courses...do work as it is assigned. Whatever teachers want to say about "spacing it out" over weeks, I've found its better to just GET IT DONE. You also get more worry-less time w/friends, and can have freedom to go out b/c you've done all your work. Why procrastinate on the internet for days when you could go out for a weekend with your friends? Good luck!

and don't procrastinate by going to CC all the time. I'm kinda doing that right now...

Don't procrastinate.
Don't miss ANY days of school.
Don't get behind because work will pile up fast.
Drink lots of caffeine :D

Use your vacations and weekends well. WORK AHEAD, IF POSSIBLE. Try to anticipate the kind of homework you'll get over the course of the week and plan accordingly.

Work ahead. It helps so much. Especially if you do history AP's, they tend to be predictable (such as outlines and stuff) and you can normally work ahead a couple chapters so if you are ever crunched for time you can afford it. Apply early to college. I already knew where I wanted to go and applied at teh end of my junior year and was accepted before senior year even started, so I didn't have any of that stress that my friends went through. During the summer, look at scholarships you might be interested in, most have similar requirements and essays every year.

Third 9 weeks is always the hardest for me. I always get some kind of illness. Right now, it's hard for me to get out of bed and go to school all day. Whether that is due to my workload or perhaps the fact that my school is 30 years old and has mold, is yet to be determined. Moral of the story: stay healthy, eat good meals, take vitamin supplements, drink water, exercise some. It makes you feel much better. Even though I still have good grades in my 6 AP classes, it takes much more energy and time since I'm sick.

Do something fun for yourself once a week. You need a time to take a break and forget about school (I know, I said foreget about it). Maybe make it a routine for a certain day of the week, that way you have something to look forward to.

Have goals about what grades you want in the classes, it is much easier to stay motivated rather than to just say "I want a good grade."

That's all I have off the top of my head.

Definitely don't miss any days of school. The rest is up to the effort and concentration you put into it, but if you miss school you will totally go nuts trying to catch up.

hugsLM

Drop them.
Or else risk dying.
