<p>So i've completed a year at the University of Michigan and began thinking that I'd do well and more importantly enjoy being a talent agent. I'm just beginning to think I might fare better at a school in California to land that almighty mail room job. I am open for any suggestions on the transfer, major or whatever other insight you guys have.</p>

<p>I think you really need to go over this one. I mean, Entourage is a great show, and it seems as if Ari Gold is living the life--but it's a really stressful job. It's also hard to get into. Most of the people working at those agencies have families who hooked them up with job or have had some type of connection. I remember hearing somewhere that 1 in 50 applicants who apply to WMA's training program get the job, so if you like your odds I'd go for it.
If you want to come out here, I know that UCLA has a pretty good establishment with entertainment industry, but don't just expect to get in right away. Remember that even Ari Gold had some serious education--undergrad at Harvard and JD/MBA at Michigan. Even though it's fictional, I think it says something about the line of work. If I were you I'd get into a business or law track and see what you can do with the industry on the side. Who knows, maybe you'll get in? At the worst you have a solid career to get you by. I hope you do what you really love and best wishes.</p>
<p>This is a job I would love to do. Although it's stressful, it's something I would enjoy.
I'd recommend UCLA and USC if you are interested in the entertainment industry.</p>

From experience, no matter where you go to school in LA (assuming it's a good program), you'll find connections (assuming you look for them and are a good networker). The matter is largely whether or not they like you when they meet you (they being just about anyone out there, because connections come in the strangest ways... a mentor of mine got his big break into music production & session playing & touring with an for some of the best-known artists in the nation when he happened to be working with a small, unknown band whose lead singer was dating the top session drummer in LA and was suddenly pulled onto the scene and worked as both an artist and businessmen in the industry; a cousin of mine ended up making it for a time in a similar area to what you're talking simply because he was from the midwest and certain important people liked his manner and pulled him into the business). If you're liked AND talented AND qualified, you might get in.</p>
<p>Ive been thinking about that too, you already go to the school he went to.
Im a freshman at oakland and was going to transfer to MSU or UofM next year but ive put some thought into it and I mean I have a 4.0 so far so i might as well stick with it and get into whatever grad school I want.
And if you want to become an agent like ari, theres jobs similar to that, i mean you dont have to be a talent agent, you can also be a sports agent etc. and im pretty sure all agency jobs are similar in the sense that you dont sit at a desk all day you get to meet with clients, business meetings etc.and thats why I am attracted to that job. I have ADD so a job where you are constantly doing different things and have room to move up and get rich is appealing.</p>
