I realize my passion is probably sports, and the best thing to do to get into that field is communications/journalism. Those however are unreliable majors. So i was wondering what can I do to create a back up plan.

I do also like biology so I can take the required class for pre-med.
I could also double major in some other major.

Also does anyone have tips for getting into sports broadcasting?

The one thing you can do to increase your chances of success is take as many opportunities for internships (paid or unpaid) and professional experience as you can. This is a field built on networking and prior experience, so you need to build a portfolio that provides a strong foundation.

Biology - If you can’t keep above a 3.5 minimum for overall GPA for pre-med, don’t even try. The degree is essentially worthless. You may as well have graduated with a Barista of Arts. You really need to ask yourself “Do I want to be a doctor?” because it is not a joke to become one with all of the studying you have to do and high stakes of getting stuck with a useless degree if you don’t get in. The only biology majors I know that didn’t make it are several baristas (6-7) and one lab tech.

Pick a major you enjoy and a major that is economical if you’re going to double major. I don’t think it matters that much in what you major in as long as you have some kind of networking skills and ability to get internships that matter in relation to sports broadcasting. What I recommend is reading up on it. It seems like the information on that webpage is very informative.
