I'm a sophomore and I took the ACT in April and got a 29- 34 English 28 Math 27 Reading 28 Science (so close to a 30!) The reason I think I did so well on the first section and mediocre on the other sections is because my mind was sharp and fresh to answer the English questions, but when it came to the other 3 sections, my brain was literally fried and I had a headache. I got a 28 in math and I'm WAY better in math than I am in English! Does anyone have tips on how to overcome the frying of my brain, since the SAT is coming up in less than a week and I don't want the same thing to happen.

Try to take one or two more sample tests, and stick with it all the way through. If you don’t have the time for that, try to take some school work, or a book that you don’t really like because it’s a little tough, and sit down and read it until you feel like you’re going to start coughing blood. (just kidding about that last part) Just try to mentally prepare yourself by copying the actual test as much as possible.

1 tip: Use the breaks they give you to your advantage! Bring a small snack (an apple, granola bar, etc.), get up and stretch, walk around a bit, meditate, do whatever you need to do. That should clear your mind before the next section.
