I'm a sophomore and I took the ACT in April and got a 29- 34 English 28 Math 27 Reading 28 Science (so close to a 30!) The reason I think I did so well on the first section and mediocre on the other sections is because my mind was sharp and fresh to answer the English questions, but when it came to the other 3 sections, my brain was literally fried and I had a headache. I got a 28 in math and I'm WAY better in math than I am in English! Does anyone have tips on how to overcome the frying of my brain, since the SAT is coming up in less than a week and I don't want the same thing to happen.

Various foods can help replenish the glucose depleted by intense brain activity. Before the test, complex carbs and fruit will release their glucose over time (good). The quickest burst comes from sugary treats, so if you well into the test and feeling groggy that might help. Sugary treats give a quick burst, but can then cause a sugar crash - a lower low, more or less.

shameless self-bump
