You just come off sounding noobish. You’re a few months in to your freshman year of high school, and you’re already burning out and stressing about “finding an Ivy that you like”(as if you already have your pick of the Ivies).

no i understand completely. and i don’t think there’s anything wrong with choosing not to go with an ivy (assuming you could get in) and choosing a less competitive school instead. you can really thrive anywhere…some ppl do better as the big fish in the small pond. i honestly think ppl can do well at whatever they’re passionate about, so if you can find something you really like in college, rather than just working for grades/competition, it’ll be good in the long run :)

Thirded :)

COMPLETELY disagree with people who say “suck it up.”

Aero’s suicide comment? yeah, I DO know someone who committed suicide because competitive high school followed by an ivy league education was too much to bear. NOT EVERYONE can do it and telling people to suck it up only makes them feel more incompetent and worthless.

Don’t go somewhere that makes you feel worthless, and don’t ever lose sight of joy, because joy is what makes life worth living.

Think about colleges that are competitive enough to be challenging and exciting, but relaxed enough so that you can make friends, maybe find a significant other, experience new things, and enjoy life.

Hey man (or girl), I just wanted to tell you to hang in there. It’s really tough. I get it. I go to a school just like yours, where everyone is extremely talented and gifted, and sometimes you just can’t help but feel inferior. But don’t let the competitiveness and stress beat you down. It doesn’t matter how everyone else is doing or how you stand in the ranks. Just go to school to learn and enrich yourself. If you really make an effort to learn, you will definitely succeed and you will have so much more than those cut-throat biotches who only care about grades.

Five people suicided in the past three months at our rival school. It’s quite sad.
