I'm a freshman acting major at NYU Tisch School in the Stella Adler Studio. I'm not happy here because I miss the academics that I'm not getting in a BFA acting program, and I haven't enjoyed living in the city as much as I envisioned I would. I'm looking to transfer to a college that has more of a balance between academics and theatre.

NYU GPA: 3.9
High School GPA: 3.6
SAT: 2060 (730 V, 620 M, 710 W)
I also did a ton of extracurriculars in high school that were mostly performing arts and community service oriented.

I'm really not sure where to transfer at this point, any ideas?

Sounds like you’d be happier in a BA program. Try asking for BA program suggestions in the Theater/Drama major forum:
[Theater/Drama Majors - College Confidential](Theater/Drama Majors - College Confidential Forums)
When you post, it will help if you can specify the size of school, location (obviously not urban), geography, etc. that interests you, and of course your financial situation, since aid can be more challenging for transfers.

Consider taking a leave of absence for the second semester so that you can devote your energies to the transfer applications. Many aren’t due until March or even later.

If you want to stay in NYC look into Fordhan’s theater program at Lincoln Center and see if they accept transfers. It is a BA program which combines theater with a traditional academic experience.
