Tisch admissions

I’m a junior (using my sisters account). I recently got interested in Tisch school of the arts. Only problem? I come from a central texas, where there are limited acting opportunities. Could someone tell me the chances of getting into the school without a large resume?

like, just how important are the resumes to your application? I have a good academic standing at a college prep school, but is that resume issue is gonna hurt me a lot?

Good academic standing will help. However be aware that you will be "up against" many strong academic students with extensive training and/or talent. Note that this does not necessarily imply a long resume, but typically a combination of voice, dance and acting training.

Tisch has definitely accepted people with little to no training, but who did do great and were well prepared for their audition.

You should start by focusing on your training and being the best performer you can be.
My d's resume consisted of regional competitions, school play performances, and awards she had won, as well as her training background(singing with a private teacher, dancing at a local dance studio and acting in the drama dept at school)
She had no proffessional credits.
She was also on the principals honor roll, graduating top 5 in her class.
She volunteered alot of her time, she mentored young drama students at school, was on student council, was a junior reporter for the local paper, helped teach jr. musical theatre at her dance studio, and was the only student to sit on the local school boards Arts committee.
I think they look for talented, bright individuals that are committed to the arts and driven.

do not worry! 2 students in my class were from central texas! just do as much as you can and practise as much as you can.

Thanks so much for the advice/help/reassurences!

i've been trying to look up programs that might help... not going to well so far, but im trying.

lindyloohoo- my school doesnt rank, but im generally at the top of the class. i have a 3.6 gpa. i do alot of [required] community service projects, and i have some parts in school plays. do you think it would help to start helping out with jr high play productions?

mtgrlsmom- thanks, i'll take that into consideration! :)
but yeah, thanks for all the replies!

jennyD123- are u in yale? how hard would you say they looked at the resume at the auditions?

Hi again,
yes, if you have time volunteer as much as you can!
mentoring younger children will only help you grow as an actor and performer!
good luck!!

no, i'm in tisch. hence i'm posting here! lol. i have no idea how hard they looked at the resumes but i know one had a decent one and one didn't have many credits at all.
