We are planning a visit to NYU this spring and would love, if possible, to coupel the visit and de rigeur campus tour with seeing a musical put on by Tisch/CAP21 students. If anyone knows what is going up this spring, can you post that information here? Thanks a lot. I seem to have difficulty finding what I want on NYU’s otherwise excellent website.

NMR....the only shows that are exclusively CAP21 students are a musical for second year CAP students (approx. 16 of them are in it) which is Pippin and a musical for just third year CAP students, Cabaret. Cabaret goes up Feb. 15, 16, 17, 23, 24 at 8 PM and Feb. 17, 18, 24, 25 at 3 PM. I don't yet have the dates for Pippin but think it likely will be late April. My daughter's roomie who is her theater pal from our region is Catherine! When I know the dates, I can tell you.

There is a musical at Strasberg which is an All Tisch musical (students from several studios including from CAP21) that is faculty directed. That musical is Jesus Christ Superstar and goes up the evenings of April 4-7 and 11-14. My daughter is in that.

There are the two student run musicals (again, all Tisch, not just CAP kids) of Parade and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I don't have the dates but if you want to see those, I likely could find out.

PS...I am only referring to musicals now, but there are a plethora of plays going on at Tisch as well.

Thanks, as always, Susan. Would love to see your D, especially, if we can swing that. Is it difficult to get tickets?

Hi NotMamaRose -
Parade is on during the week of March 19 through March 23 or 24; you'd think I would know specifics since my daughter is in it.... damned if I know when you can get tickets; my daughter hasn't let me know yet! (Maybe she doesn't want me to see it?? Hmmmm....;) SoozieVT, I'd love to see JC Superstar! One of my favorite musicals; I had the 8-track and memorized EVERY song. Please let me know when tix are on sale! Thanks! Jill

Jill, if and when you find out about the tickets to Parade, can you let me know? PM me.

Absolutely. I don't have to PM you; I can post it for all! We saw it performed at Steinhardt a couple of years ago and the music is wonderful.

Be aware that the GAP shows are put on in a teeny tiny theater that seats so few people that tickets are at a premium and tend to sell out within a couple of hours when made available. This pertains to Parade.

Rossji & Soozievt,

Congratulations to your girls. My daughter has a close friend in Parade so hopefully she will be able to make it in time to get a seat. She saw the play last year at Steinhardt and it has become one of her all time favorites.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a great play! Your daughter must be having a great time with that!

Once the kids hit 2nd year, there is always some sort of production going on in which they or their friends are involved. I know that each time I went to visit last year we saw some type of school production. (I had to wait until school let out before I saw a Broadway show. My son graduated CAS in May and my graduation gift to myself was tickets to Wicked which I enjoyed very much.)

My D sent me an email with info for the Hedwig shows and for ticket orders. Thought some of you might be interested. Hedwig is a wonderful stage show, not sure if any of you caught the original off-Broadway production at the Jane but it was great. I think some of you saw the later production that Anthony Rapp did a few years ago, which was also great. The stage show is much better than the film version, which I'm sure all of your kids have seen. Anywhere, here you go:
