Tisch--double major

Hi there.
If you're a drama student at Tisch, is it possible to double major with, let's say, English or History?
Do you end up with 2 degrees?

Yes, it is possible, though difficult, to double major with a liberal arts subject like English or History if in Tisch Drama. It is a bit more doable to minor in second subject, but double majors are possible. I know those who have done it.

yeah… I was interested in the same thing. I just got into Tisch Musical theater and I want to do double major in computer science. So what happens? because i heard that there is a long studio block in the middle of the day… would they just give you my computer classes around my block?

They won’t just give you your computer classes around your block. The classes are held whenever the schedule says. If your have a conflict with your drama classes, you’re out of luck.

Studio is three full days/week. That’s from around 9AM - 6 PM. Plus there are theatre studies classes that you take on the other two days. I think it works out to about one class per semester for that. So you have to find whatever fits in the time that’s left. A class might fit in, but maybe the prerequisite is on a studio day. It’s difficult. Probably English and History would be easier than Computer Science. If you take courses in the summer, that would help you work in a double major.

I don’t think you end up with two degrees. You get a BFA from Tisch. CAS might have different requirements for a BA; can’t recall, but AP credits really help in fulfulling those Humanities and Science requirements.

I told my daughter to just take whatever interested her. Felt it was better for intellectual growth.
