Portfolio is probabl my weakest part. I think I show potential but I just didn't have the time/resources to make it incredibly spectacular.
Thoughts apreciated (:

Actually I worked a lot on my portfolio yesterday, so it is kind of good.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, Tisch film is really one of the harder programs to guess chances for due to its portfolio nature.

Really try to work on making your portfolio fantastic. You have the grades, but for Tisch, the portfolio is just as important. Also, make sure your essats, the NYU one, and the creative essay for Tisch, are really good.

But like I said the portfolio is key.

wooot for varsity crew people applying to film! (i am one too)

Theres no crew in Missouri but it sounds like alota fun.

I'm also applying to Tish Film, and we have similar SAT scores (740V 690M 680W). Oddly enough, I also work for a local newspaper (I have a weekly column). Weird. So, what did you do for your portfolio? I always intended to have 10 minutes of film to submit, but I haven't really had many resources available to me (cameras, etc), despite the fact that I go to the Hartford art magnet school where I major in film (yeah, it's screwed up, we don't actually make films). Luckily I've been writing scripts for a few years and I have two six page ones that I'm really confident in (I'm still debating which to send).

Man, these art schools. You never know. Where else are you applying?

My other film production schools are USC, Emerson, and BU (yeah, I know, third year program, but what the hell), and I'm applying to Wesleyan and Columbia for Film Studies (again, kind of a "what the hell" thing).

Also, I think I'm going to apply to screenwriting at NYU (as I already have all the materials).

And please excuse my barrage of questions, but I haven't met many other people going through this whole film application process.

Haha, the barrage is fine (:
My portfolio is less than 10 minutes of film (which I'm still editing, oops). It's about this mix it up day situation that happened at my school; it's designed to encourage students to step out of their comfort zone. Anyway, my film itself kind of turned out pretty well, although it sounds lame in explanation.
I'm actually not applying to too film heavy schools, which is probably a bad decision. I applied to Wesleyan ED2, then I have Cornell, Brown, Binghamton, New Paltz, Syracuse, and BU.
What was your dramatic essay about? I'm still finishing mine.

Yeah, I've noticed that lots of films sound lame when you have to sum them up in like a sentence. My dramatic essay is about this time when I was about eleven, and when myself and four of my friends got into an argument with one kid by himself. My friends all gradually left one by one until it was only me and him, and then I sustained a fairly embarrassing beating.

And, I am also still finishing mine. Like, right now, as I type this.
