You seem very knowledgeable of the application process at NYU so I’m trusting your judgment. I’m a high school senior and I applied ED1 to Stern at NYU. I’ve visited NYU and done all things possible to show my immense interest in the school. Based on what I’ve researched, I feel pretty confident about getting in…but at the same time, I don’t think I should feel confident because my credentials are not ivy league worthy but not too shabby for schools like NYU. Sooo…I really need your opinion just to give me some mental preparation for that god-awful admission response. Here are my credentials:

GPA: weighted=4.54
HS doesn’t provide rank
ACT: 31

Grades: progressively improved over my 4 years. have only gotten As and Bs. Straight A’s junior year. and so far, straight A’s senior 1st quarter. Currently taking 2 AP classes. Stocked up on classes, I may not be a natural genius, but I’m definitely not a slacker.

Extracurricular Activities: exceeded the limit on Common App (not sure if that means much). Briefly: piano for 12 yrs, violin for 10, orchestra all 4 yrs, part-time job, 3 clubs, teach piano, sports every HS year (volleyball-1 yr, golf-2 yr-captain senior yr, water polo-2 yrs)

College Recs: awesome. College essays: should be awesome…

what else…don’t want to be tedious or anything but chance me from this. Thank you!

I am having trouble deciding between Tisch school for dance and Gallatin. In Gallatin, I would study dance and nutrition. I thought it was a double majoring program but I wouldn’t mind combining the two since I am interested in both. If I had to choose between dance and nutrition, I would 100% choose dance. I am also not an amazing student. I am an IB diploma candidate and in the B range. I need to find out the difference between both programs which involve dance.

Hey! I’m an IB Diploma student too and i’m applying to Tisch ED2!! I personally think that you should take Dance in Tisch. I had that dilemma too - of choosing Gallatin or Tisch for Acting. I believe that if you are passionate about dancing, why waste it in Gallatin? Go big, Tisch is something you should be proud of when you graduate.

I wanted to take theatre and business for Gallatin, but I realized that I am more passionate about Acting than Business. I may consider to try double majore - but I heard it’s not possible to mix Tisch and Stern or something lol. But if that doesn’t work out, I’m sticking to BFA Acting with minor in Business EMT at Stern.

I believe you should go for what you love dearly Show them your talent through your audition and you’ll be fine I was so glad they changed the Testing requirements! So I was like f*** SAT lol.

Hi, I don’t know if you still answer in this thread but, I was just wondering…
If I don’t get accepted into Tisch, and my academic stuff looks good for another school, would NYU recommend me to others?

apparently this year NYU asks students whether they’d be interested in being considered for another college within the system if they don’t get into their first choice. How did you answer this? (It might not be applicable to ED, however, IDK). I don’t think anyone can assess the likelihood of this happening in any event, since it is a new procedure. In all prior years, if you weren’t admitted to the college you applied to, you weren’t admitted to NYU at all.

I applied ED1 to Tisch this year & on the NYU Supplement on common app there was a YES or NO question of whether I was interested in being considered for another college. Above the question was an explanation of LSP etc. There is no explanation box for the applicant to write in, just a click of Yes or No. (Sorry if that didn’t answer your question…)

So I have always wanted to go to NYU, like a lot of people, but have never looked into it because financial troubles. Recently I’ve been able to consider NYU as a choice financially and was wondering what my chances would be:

My GPA is 3.5 (weighted)

(how much does NYU take into account the size of an applicants class?)

SAT is 1800

That being said, how much help would a very strong film reel be? A VERY, STRONG reel.

I have a question for anyone enrolled currently at Tisch in any of the 7 studios… NYU has been my dream school since I was in 8th grade so I decided to apply early decision to up my chances as much as possible. Here are my statistics:

@NOCCA Junior. I will be applying to the 2014 film program. I could use a proof reader for my essays. If you would be willing to read them and give me some advice, I could email them to you. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
