<p>My understanding is that the majority of people who apply to MFA programs for Film at NYU and other schools do NOT have a BFA in film and it is not a prerequisite to applying. However a creative portfolio is. <p>I would suggest you take courses in creative writing and, if you really want to be a filmmaker, start filming. You don’t need to wait till you get to Graduate school. If film is your passion, just do it. I’m sure there will be other students in you college interested in film. Experience is the best teacher. Also, look for internships associated with film and television both during the summer, and even during the school year, if your schedule allows. </p>
