I was just wondering if anyone has any insight to the Saturday at the Square invite for Tisch? Since I received the invite prior to any sort of admissions notification, does this mean that I’m into the school? Does anyone know what this means?

Congrats. Although they won't admit it officially, this is a sign that you are in! I'm not sure why NYU does this but they seem to do it every year. I've never known of anyone who received an invitation who didn't receive their good news letter a couple of weeks later. So yes, hooray for you! :)

YES! It means you are accepted! Congratulations. Go to the nyu bulletin board for more information.

ps. not recieving one does not imply that you are not accepted.

I received this today as well. I don't know how to feel about it. I'm pretty excited, but I don't want to get my hopes up. Does anyone know if anyone ever got invited and then rejected? Any insight to this would be great!

If you recall two people we know well got those letters two years ago and they are both at NYU right now, (first initial R and T both males). I remember well because my S did not get one.

I know it "ain't over until the fat lady sings" as they say but I would be feeling pretty darn good right now!

Collegebound-
Go to nyu.edu and select undergraduate admissions. At the top of that page select icon for bulletin board. When you get to the board, there is a post about this on campus visits/special events. Unfortunately the admissions people have not answered it yet (probably tomorrow). If you want immediate confirmation, press the icon for find and type in "Tisch Saturday at the Square" and posts from last year will come up with the admissions stating that you are indeed accepted!
I know of no-one that received this and wasn't accepted. I do know of people that do not receive this and are accepted.
Congratulations and good luck!

p.s. collegebound87- did you say you'd only accept CAP?

Hey, I am writing this from my daughter's hospital room and I am sorry to not have been posting on here though some of you have read my posts on the Parent Forum which I need to update, but I was just reading this forum as a diversion while my D is chatting with friends on her cell (I'm staying here 24/7)...but my hubby just called as he got back to where we live and he said my D got the Saturday in the Square Invitation for NYU and she started crying tears of joy! Her nurse came to see if she was all right and I had to explain, lol. She also got a large academic merit scholarship and Honors College from Syracuse while in the hospital, another grant as part of her FA package at Syracuse, and a talent merit award from Penn State. It is a good night at a good time.

I hope to update you later on how she is doing but she is on the road to recovery.

Susan

Yah Susan!!!! I knew she'd get into NYU......I knew it!!!! But now she'll have a tough decision to make....I wouldn't mind having to make that one!!!!

Glad to hear things are going in the right direction. I couldn't be happier for all of you

Susan-
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for your family! Tears of joy.... the best! I knew it too!!! I just wrote you a note today on the other forum. You soooo deserve this.
Send our best to your d. Believe it or not, round two has begun - now its her choice to pick who is the best for her!

DizzyDani, I did say I'd only accept CAP. Risky, I know, but hey, it's the truth.

Soozievt, congrats to your daughter! Hope she gets better quickly.

wct, I don't remember that, but thanks for filling me in. Two girls from last year (initials M and A) got invited too, but only one ended up going.

Does anyone know if international (specifically Canadian) students get invited to Saturday at the Square, or is it just for American applicants?

*--R

Congratulations to those of you with invitations to Saturday at the Square!
Susan, no matter what school your daughter decides to attend, it seems that NYU and her contacts there were a big part of her decision to graduate early and audition this year. What wonderful news for her! Knowing that she has the great choices she does will be a huge motivating force for her to recover as quickly as possible. Best wishes to you both.

Susan, congrats to D--she has some wonderful choices. hope it helps with the healing.

Congrats to everyone who is getting good news.

And to those who haven't heard or have been getting bad news, hang in there. If MT is what you have got to do you will find a way to do it. This is only one step and only one way to go at it. Good luck to everyone

Susan,
A big congratulations to your d on all her acceptances! How wonderful for her to have such choices. I am sure that is just the motivation she needs to speed her along in her recovery! Continued good thoughts for your family.

Susan...
Congrats to you and your D on her acceptances thus far. Hope this makes the healing go much faster for her! Take care....

Hey, it has been ages since I have been on these forums. I have long since been accepted to NYU Early Decision and finishing up my senior year. Congrats to everyone who got in. I look forward to meeting those of you who decide to attend. Ill be in Meisner Extension, and I am happy as can be except for the following:

I just got my Saturday in the Square invitation and googled the term to see what it was. (The invitation is really vague). LOL it brought me back here.

I have a rehearsal that Saturday for a professional show, and I called the director to ask if I could go. She didn't say no but she insinuated that she would dislike it.

Does anyone know exactly what this ceremony is? Is it indeed for "outstanding students" only or does everyone get invited?

I would love to meet some of my teachers and future classmates, but am unsure if I want to lose some of my professional credibility. I know I am lucky to have the choice to begin with. Alas, life is complicated.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Hey everyone.
Um, I got the Saturday Invite, but I'm not exactly what you'd call outstanding:
-3.67 GPA
-1320 SAT/ 2040 SAT
-Film/TV major.
Only thing I can think of is maybe my script was really good?
Also, I live in Virginia.

Bump for ncc319
