I just got my letter today letting me know I was selected to become a member of the Tisch University Scholars Program!

"Dear (Name Here)

On behalf of Dean Mary Schmidt Campbell and the Tisch University Scholars Selection Committee, I am delighted to inform you that based upon your outstanding credentials as an applicant, and pending your official acceptance, you have been invited to become a member of the University Scholars Program at the Tisch School of the Arts.

The Tisch University Scholars Program is an honors and leadership training program for emerging artists and scholars of the highest caliber. Interdisciplinary is its approach, the program expands upon the intellectual resources of New York University while taking full advantage of the cultural richness and diversity of New York City and the world beyond...."

It goes on to say that we participate in special events and take two trips with all expenses paid (freshmen year to Kentucky to take part in Appalshop, then either sophomore or junior year on an international trip... past trips have included Vietnam, Ghana, Brazil, Greece, South Africa, and India).

Members must maintain a 3.5 GPA, take leadership roles in activities, and fulfill a community service requirement.

It says only 15-18 people from Tisch are in this... I am so thrilled and in shock that I got this!
This sounds incredible!!!

Here are some of my stats if anyone is interested:
*White Female from Richmond, Virginia
*Rank: 9/426, *GPA: 4.7 w, *SATI: 2120
*Lots of EC's in theatre/film/varsity crew/figure skating
*Film & TV major

i said this in the other post but....theres no money involved with university scholarships for tisch =/ you could still get trustee scholarships though, or other financial aid

lol i really wish i would get this letter, but i dont think i will. the university scholars program sounds so amazing. congrats =)

btw...did you have a lot of volunteer work? i thought i heard that was another thing needed for university scholars (that would definitely keep me out...ive either been in marching band or had a job through most of high school, no time for volunteering), but im not sure.

I do volunteering for local film events and festivals.
I'm also a figure skater, so I volunteer for local events through my skating club, and I volunteer as a counselor/helper for a 'LearnToSkate' program at my local ice rink.
I really don't think I spend THAT much time with community service, though - I spend most of my time at theatre rehearsals or at a sports practice.
