So I just got accepted to Cinema Studies…
I’m really happy because I really aspire to work in the film industry and NYU is my dream school.
But I heard that Cinema Studies is more of critics and journalism whereas TV/Film is more hands on experience and practical courses.
I’m planning to work as a filmmaker or an editor (director is my dream job though) not a critic.
Is Cinema Studies bad if I’m planning to work in the set and actual filming industry?
I don’t think I will have any debt since I’m getting 60-70% scholarship from an organization and my parents are willing to pay 30% of the tuition. But I still feel like the huge price will be a burden, and I don’t want to study a major that won’t get me any job.
Should I change my major to TV/Film, or is Cinema Studies good even if I’m planning to work in any media or film industry?
