Curious to know if anyone out there applied to Tisch High School Summer as a sophomore (going into junior year), didn’t get in, then applied again as a junior and was accepted? I’ve heard that they give preference to juniors (going into senior year).
Hi! I was accepted into the Tisch summer highschool program this year, actually. While I am a current junior, I do know that the application pool was very rigorous. They looked at essays and wanted to see passion for the art you applied for and that you’re using the art in the real world.
For example, I wrote my essay on how I use the knowledge that I learned from previous programs in my community so I can share my knowledge because my school has a non-existent photography program
I was turned down the summer before my sophomore year and was completely heartbroken. I figured there was no way I’d get in the next year, but I wrote new essays and sent in another application just for fun. I was accepted. Just because you don’t get in the first time doesn’t mean they’ve written you off completely; if they like what they see in your application, you have a great shot regardless of your past applications. Never give up!
